The Scientific Programme Committee invites you to submit abstracts of original research for presentation at the 15th International Small-Angle Scattering Conference.
Abstracts can be up to 5 pages including figures and will form the basis of proceedings. Since proceedings are of their greatest value at the time of the conference, following the production of the final programme, all abstracts will be available for access via the website to fully registered delegates to enable them to plan their conference. Following the conference, all abstracts will be accessible via the conference website as a resource to the community. Proceedings will be published with an ISBN by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation. Since the abstract will appear as submitted, adherence to guidelines is essential.
To submit your abstract for the 15th International Small-Angle Scattering Conference (SAS 2012), we require you to complete the online abstract form. You can access this form using the ‘Submit Abstract’ button. A confirmation email indicating a successful upload will be instantly sent to the email address you have specified.
You will be required to submit your contact details and details of your abstract (Abstract Title, Authors, Preferred Presentation Type, Theme, etc). Abstracts should be written following the guidelines in the Abstract Template.

General Information
- All abstracts must be submitted no later than midnight, 18th May, Australian Eastern Standard Time.
- Abstracts may be submitted as either a Microsoft work document or a PDF based on the template provided on this website.
- All abstracts must be submitted in English.
- Abstracts must include a 300 word executive summary and have a limit of five (5) pages.
- The body of the abstract should contain the following headings Executive Summary (300 words maximum), Introduction, Experimental, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, References, Acknowledgments.
- Use limited references (e.g. Smith 1999).
- Scientific symbols / diagrams / tables are permitted. Please review formatting prior to uploading your abstract.
- Multiple abstract submissions are permitted.
- Multiple abstracts can be uploaded by the same presenting author on the online submission form. You will only be required to complete theme, author, details etc for each paper before submitting your next one.
- Your abstract will appear in print as submitted. Should you require changes please send an updated version to the Conference Secretariat via email. Please ensure you check your data carefully before submitting as changes or additions will not be accepted after midnight, 18th May, Australian Eastern Standard Time.
- If you have entered a valid email address you will receive a confirmation email confirming receipt of your submission.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Programme Committee and authors notified by 17 July 2012.
Note: Abstracts will be available on the website prior to the conference for all registered delegates and post-conference for the public.
Submission Guidelines
To ensure consistency in formatting, all abstracts are to be submitted in Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word format based on the Abstract Template which is available at the bottom of this page. The maximum length for Abstracts is five (5) pages.

Presentation Type
Abstracts may be submitted as Poster or Oral presentations. The Review Committee has the final decision on allocation of Poster and Oral presentations.

SAS2012 Prizes
Otto-Kratky Award
Anton-Paar has kindly agreed to sponsor the Otto-Kratky Award for young scientists in the field of SAXS. To be eligible, you must be a fully registered attendee to SAS2012, be author or co-author on an abstract utilising SAXS and either less than 35 years of age or fewer than five years since the date of PhD graduation. The prize winner will be announced during SAS2012 and will be awarded 750 Euro.
Guinier Prize
The Guinier prize will be awarded for outstanding contributions in the field of small-angle scattering and will be sponsored by the International Union of Crystallography. Nominations will be sought for this prize and further details will be available soon.
